Welcome to the Mixdown FAQs!

What is The Mixdown?
The Mixdown is a weekly FM radio program on WRVU, 91.1 FM in Nashville, Tennessee showcasing underground electronic music from around the world. | [Top]

When does the show air?
Currently, The Mixdown is live on Sundays 10am-12 noon, Central time. This can change from one semester to the next, so check back here for current info if you can't find us!| [Top]

I'm not in Nashville, can I still catch the show?
Yep, just go to WRVU's site with your RealPlayer equipped browser. Archives are also available for several months after the live airing, check the playlists to see which ones are still online.| [Top]

I missed the show live, can I still hear it?
Maybe, see above .The Mixdown is normally archived for several months from a particular show date. Go here to see what shows are available for listening. | [Top]

How do I get my music on the air? What are the requirements?
Visit the Mix Submissions section for more information on getting your music on the air. | [Top]

Is there a limit to the number of submissions?
Nope - Not at all. However, make sure you follow the submission guidelines, especially where it states that only one submission per email is requested. | [Top]

How short or long can my song be?
There is no strict guideline. Music can be of most any length -- however we do suggest it be between 2-7 minutes. | [Top]

What music style is acceptable?
We accept anything -- From House, Hip-Hop, Latin, to the bizarre. However, we should emphasize that your mix should NOT contain any questionable language as this *IS* live radio. | [Top]

What format should I submit my music in?
Most people provide links to mp3s or send in audio CDs. We also have an FTP site if you don't have webspace, and in a pinch you can email files, but only as a last resort. Even an mp3 is a very large attachment. We do not accept Real or Windows Media files as these cannot be exported to CD audio for use at the radio station.| [Top]

I submitted my music, but it hasn't aired yet - Why?
There could be many reasons for this. First, your submission email was not received. Another reason could be that your mix was received and reviewed, however due to special programming your work is waiting in the wings -- Don't worry, we'll get to it. If however, you've sent your music more than once and it still hasn't made it on-the-air, feel free to email DJ B. | [Top]

Will I get an individual review of my work?
Unfortunately, no. However, if you tune-in to the show, you may hear DJ B spread butter over your work. He does that from time to time. | [Top]

How will I know my work was selected? Do you email me back?
Well if you hear it on the show -- there you go. You will receive an email every time your works airs, so that's another definite clue! | [Top]

I have a CD - How do I get it aired on the show?
Send an email to DJ B for further instructions. | [Top]

I heard an awesome song on the show, can I get a copy?
Check the playlist page for the week the song you like aired - as of April 2003, we're providing artist links for each song! If not there, send an email to DJ B and he'll forward it to the artist. Since it is up to the individual artist to reply, we cannot guarantee a response. | [Top]

How do I get on the Mixdown DAM CDs from mp3.com?
Currently, the music on the Mixdown DAM CDs is determined by DJ B. Our suggestion is to make your music and make it often. Submit it, and who knows? It may land a spot on the release! | [Top]
